Ok would like some advice on towing on the 4.8 AUTO TRIP TRONIC? Towing a boat of about 1200kg. Should I tow in auto mode or should I tow in Triptonic mode (Manual) and not go to 5th at all?

The 2007 have the upgraded 5th gear so it should be OK to tow but personally I would use tip-tronic 4th especially if you are running slightly bigger tires. This will stop the hunting between gears.
Also consider the "cruise in manual mode" mod which allows you to use your cruise control

I have done the mod and it works very well. I tow in drive and when the box starts hunting, then only tip-tronic.
