Abri - yes, I'm looking at a nice car for myself that I can also work with (do some long-distance tar road), but that can also double as a weekend camper (like the Cruiser 62 is now), and a boat/caravan/trailer towing vehicle.
I'm a big Landy (Defender) fan, a Cruiser fan and also a Patrol fan (had 2)..........the Cruiser VX does'nt have a SFA, but the "luxury" GRX does (hope I'm right??), and having a SFA is really an issue to me.......so, the luxury, Auto Patrol with SFA is like buying a VX V8 with SFA - very attractive thought.
Also, let's talk Rande en Sente here.........we all know that you pay above retail for a Cruiser, and below trade for a Patrol (all things being equal, with same mileage, etc etc)...........that's a difference of more than R 100k, sometimes even more, for a vehicle just as capable/reliable in most departments as a Cruiser, and even more so in other areas (like the SFA, no AHC goodies, and military drivetrains).
As for the Defenders.......my alie jeuk, maar ek sal nie; great, iconic cars, but they just have too many hassles (IMO), after having had 3 TD5's, and 2 V8'S (great stuff, btw - those V8's)
