Those Maxxi's will be pretty decent i'm sure on a Patrol. I have the maxxi's MT's on and yeah its a completely different tyre, but Maxxi's are more off-road based and high performance than standard on road type tyre manufacturers.
I am also a big fan of the Kumho tyres too..... these are in my opinion brilliant tyres as an option to look at.

Still quite a new tire on the market as far as I'm aware.
Any Maxxis tires is brilliant
I've had a few different set over the years on vehicles and I've always been impressed with performance and lifespan.

I'm also running Maxxis MT, they are very good offroad tires, also had the Maxxis Bravo's A/T on the D/cab performance and lifespan very good got 90k out of them. Good tire in my opinion.

Weet van 'n paar mense wat gekla het oor die km's wat die bighorns lewer op 'n swaar patrol... Nie seker of die at's dieselfde probleem het nie.

As you know I am also meber of Mc Carthy 4x4x club. The official recovery vehicle was L C bakkie and Maxxis BigHorns were fitted to it. Just ONE trip to Lesothe with Baboon'sPass included and those Maxxis were trown away. Replaced with Deuller M/T .. That was in 2007. The still only use Deuller M/T on the recovery vehicle [albeit new ones every 4 years. Not letting the tyres get to 5 years age.]
As for the Kumho .. The do o k .. but not as good as. Downside is they are directional. And they dont last. The set on iNyathi was fitte on 160,000 km and now with 212000 km they are on the brink of the legal limit. 50 K on a set at that price?? Not for m e.

My experience with the bighorns on my Pajero was completely the opposite. In fact I drove baboon's with them.
I found them to be good. The only two punctures I ever had were from a nail and a piece of sheet metal off-cut in my own driveway.
A highly underrated tyre in my opinion. Not the greatest wear life though, buts that's the trade-off for softer compound.
