TB45E cylinder head water leak.

Post by bogeyman »

The trusty tb45 engine in my Gq started running hot last week. I found a very small hole in the head at the rear close to the heater outlet pipe.
Wanted to do a quick fix with a self tapping screw and ptfe tape , but the hole was in an area of very thin aluminium and became very big.
Took the head off and found only the area with the hole to be thin.
The rest of the head and all the other water plumbing parts are pristine with no sign if damage.
Luckily the engine did not overheat and everything looks like new.

I suspect that this was a cast flaw and a timebomb waiting to bite me somewhere in the sticks.

Will see if my repair shop will be able to do a repair tomorrow.

Sal prentjies plak.
