I think both the front bar AND the rear bar look sensational. Very attractive bar work indeed. The Patrol is looking fantastic bud.

Only 2 things that might be an irritation for me is that i would rip the rear number plate off every time im doing hard work, (unless they have mounted it on a hinge perhaps?), and that the front bar is designed for the Wagon which has wheel arch flares, however, you could add flares i suppose if it bothers you. Purely aesthetics, definitely looks like both bars are well made.

Hi Russ.
I agree regarding the rear number plate. It will definitely get ripped off
Will probably mount it on the rear of the trallies or if its possible to get a stick-on plate here in S. Africa i could attach it to the tailgate.

As you say, the front bar is designed for use with fender flares.
I'm not really worried about it, but I would like to add some anyhow to help protect the wheel arches. Does anybody know if they are available to buy in S. Africa?.

I think that will have to be the end of the spending for a wee while.
Well maybe an intercooler upgrade could be on the cards

There are NO aftermarket flares available for the patrol. Simple as that. Believe me, i have scoured the land. Fibre glass units are terrible, and eisher shatter, or are ill-fitting. Its not something i suggest investing in. Which leaves your last hope with Nissan SA . Using factory flares from the later model Patrol pickups (3.0 CRD Pickups), will fit the arches as they are the same as our 4.2's,.. however, you would need to drill out mounting holes as per the 3.0 CRD, and treat with relevant rust protection.

As for costs.... i only shudder as to the thought of what Nissan would charge for a set.... I'm taking a guess but hazard R3000.00+ per corner.

The talk about the fender flares made me think of these I saw a couple of days back:

Not sure if they could work, but not badly priced

They wont work, not on most flare profiles, def no the patrol profile. These are just gimmicks unfortunately, certainly nothing worth drilling into for. price is cool, but thats about it as unfortunately they wont serve the purpose.

Hi Fanus......
Im not sure that there is alot more that i can do now to improve the bakkie.

SAC told me that they can recore the existing intercooler to make it deeper. They say this will improve hp and keep engine temps down.
I may look at doing this but would like to hear from others to see if it would be worth while.

Cheers.

Hi Dave, if you don't mind can you maybe post me side view pic of your rear wheel/leaf springs. I want to compare it to my bakkie's leaf springs... (you do still have the standards leafpack in?)

Hi Fanus.
I do still have the original leaf springs fitted.
Unfortunately i'm out of country at the moment so unable to take pics.
Will only be back January.

Cheers.
