Re: PowerMax Premium Winch
Guys, sorry for the slight hijack – can a hydraulic winch easily be fitted to the Patrol (I am thinking of my 4.8 here). If so, what provides the hydraulic power? Or is one always better off with the electric version? Bearing in mind too the hassle of fitting a second battery to the Patrol engine bay – and I certainly do not want to run that gauge of cable the length of the car if I can help it!
I suppose the advantage with an electric winch in a cradle is that you can use it back or front, as you need – but the cradle setup has its own challenges as well.

Re: PowerMax Premium Winch
I dont know those winches, but I can swear by Warn! Only problem is their price for the premium winches.
Clem, I ran 50mmsq cable from front to back (see my post on dual battery system) - absolutely no problem, in fact the thicker the better/safer. With the right fusing/protection each side, absolutely no safety issue prevails. The beauty is you can run winch and start the vehicle from the back. I also did not really want to place a second battery in front due to the mods to the plumbing etc. A battery life is also quite significantly reduced by the high temps in the engine bay.
