4L Nivara engine swop for 4.5 TB
Has anyone considered to replace a 4.5 TB engine with a 4L Nivara V6 or has anyone done it before

Welcome WillemK,
That could be an interesting conversion !!
What are the differences in specs between the 2 motors?

Prado has the 4.0 V6, not even the Nissan v6 specs, and dows fantastic low end torque .. pulling big 4 meter, 2,5 tonne loaded through Botswana sands.
If the gearbox will fit, me thinks it can be done [you won't save on fuel though .. that big Patrol body will still make any engine WORK for the desitnation

Re: 4L Nivara engine swop for 4.5 TB
Just looking at the engine specs below the Navara engine makes more Power and Torque, but the down side is that ot makes it at higher rpm.
Low down power (which is where you will be driving mostly) in my opinion is way more beneficial. So I do think it will work yes, but will it be better?...... Im not so sure.
Also I think the Navara engine works hard to get those numbers where the Patrol 4.5 engine is very under stressed.
Besides just looking at the numbers I think it will be a very big job to make this work. Getting the Navara ECU to work in the Patrol must be a nightmare not even mentioning getting the engine and clutch to work on the Patrol gearbox.
Navara
Max Tower: 198 kW at 5600 rpm
Max Torque: 386 Nm at 4000 rpm
Patrol 4.5
Max Power: 145 kW at 4400 rpm
Max Torque: 360 Nm at 3600 rpm

Re: 4L Nivara engine swop for 4.5 TB
This could be interesting discussion - To get a good comparison look at the graphs (if anyone can get hold of them), of the V6 numbers at the RPM values of the 4,5
ie what is the RPM when it produce 145kw, and at what RPM does it produce 360nm vs what the v6 actually produces at the same RPM's of the 4,5 - or just overlay the two graphs ...

Jy moet n vee six se nek om draai om krag te maak en moet hom rev as jy wil wegtrek anders gaan hy jou net daar drop
daai reguit ses ,as jy die koppelaar per ongeluk "drop" moet jy chiro toe gaan laat hulle die werwels weer straight maak
Ek sien Jap engines verkoop nou 4.1l V8 Nissan motors OLX
