I bought two UHF RTS Bosvark radios yesterday to take on the trip. I was just wondering whom of you are also taking some UHF radios so that we can see what kind of coms we can astablish. All UHF radios are able to communicate if set on the same freaquancy If what I have red is true.

I tested them last night. 2 handhelds no additional arials. Was able to maintan coms with the wife up to 7km's on my way to work. Shortly after that coms was lost. I wnet up to the 11th floor of the plant. Stepped outside and faced the town. We managed clear coms during this and it was 13km as the crow flys. 19km driving distance. I am very impressed. The Car mount arial is on its way. As well as a magnetic external arial. So I think the river trip will be a good test.

Thanx Wilkie, The will be able to communicate. So we will tune them once we meet up if you want  then we see from there. I am not expecting miricales from these UHF radios, but its better that having nothing. It its make the road so much shorter. Plus they are great for guiding each other over obsticles.

that's Great Cedric, then we can also make use of this opportunity to compare them. I read some feedback on the Community feedback where they tested them, but I would like to see first hand.
