Welcome Eddie - you will never be sorry for buying such a great vehicle (and yes, I suppose aI am a little biased after owning a couple of them...)

I recieved my lady 2 days ago and i love her.
Found some 285/70/17's for her with 1000km on for R1,5k each
http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/posting.php? ... =43&t=5497 #. i understand i can just fit them on the current rims with no problems? TWT said they wont fit them for me because they are 40 points or 40% or something like that above the standard impact on gear ratio and diff allowance (I have no clue what the hell is on about though) and they only fit bigger tires if this figure is below 20. so i searched the web and there is mixed responses on performance implications and additional wear on gears and diff etc.. (not to mention consumption). Taken from the previous comments on this thread i should have nothing to worry about and can proceed to fit them? Any other views?

I roll with 285/70/17 KM2 muds on 17 inch GRX mags on my Donkey diesel. and I don't have issues. it robs you a bit of power and costs you a bit more on fuel. but they look awsome and when off road makes a huge difference. it was a 2inch increase on diff height from my original tyres.
Just fit them and PATROL
Being alive is a Blessing!!

Go and speak to Johann Tyres at
1st Alignment Centre I think he's probably forgotten more about tyres and fitment on 4x4s than TWT has even learnt.

Again.... PLEASE ensure the rims fit the Patrol hub perfectly ..... if not get the rim inside diameter machined out to get a flush fit !!!!!!
