Unfortunately the Hitachi solenoid valve does not seem to be the most durable one, especially when not exercised regularly. I might be wrong, but it seems as though the newer Y61 Patrols suffer from this more than the older ones, or is it my imagination?Wynvat wrote:This appears to be a disturbingly common problem.
Eish. One still needs to use your brain when working on cars. As far as I know the part of the manual describing the operation of the diff lock was written for the original versions of the Y61 (i.e. long before the 4.8 motor even existed) and was never adapted as new engine models became available, probably because the difflock system remained mostly unchanged (there are some electrical wiring changes in the later models that are described in the supplements to the original manual). It therefore stands to reason that the engine bay pictures might look a little different...Wynvat wrote:When I spoke to the Nissan technician after he installed the new solenoid, he told me that he thinks that my Patrol was imported to SA by "mistake", and that it was destinied for an overseas market, as my engine lay-out differs from the pictures in his manual![]()
