if you are going to fit the bullbar and winch, you'll have to upgrade the suspension. I have heavy duty OME setup infront. And the car dropped 15mm after installing the bullbar and winch. Its just money money out of the pocket brother. You should ask yourself what do you want and why? And if the juice is worth the sqeeuze. Go for it. No sence in doing it half way.
The standard suspension wont last with all that weight. Sorry to be the barrer of the bad news.

Re: Safari Centre bull bars
Thanks Josh. Yes, I went the whole hog with my Land Rover Discovery 1 many years back (and which I still have). The thing is that everything I did improved the off-roadability of the machine but it never was as comfortable and quiet again on bad roads; for that purpose the OEM setup was best. I really like my Patrol as it is - its a great car with pretty fair fuel consumption on the open road - and I'm not sure I want to mess with things more than I have to. But I've also known the value of a winch when you *really* need it. Also, dogs, goats and donkeys... So I'm kind of undecided as to what to do.
I'm also thinking that I already have many things that I acquired years ago: a Hi Lift jack (needs a service kit, new pins and springs and cleaning up and painting), a jack buddy, sand tracks (the old aluminium roll-up tank track kind) and an old and heavy but fully functional Tirfor and cable (4 ton IIRC), the advantage of which is that you can pull in any direction, including backwards! and a snatch block. Perhaps I should just use what I already have…

Re: Safari Centre bull bars
these are tough choices. you should be able to fit just a winch if it is a big concern. The suspension should cope with only a winch. Anyways. Good luck with your decision. Sounds like you have some kit that can help you out if needed, so it seems you are sorted. The patrol oe bumper has a decent stiffner in the bumper. I was quite impressed. And the oe aproach is very good compared to most.
You could also fit air bladders in the rear to assist with the sagging.
Most of the time these accessories are not really needed. I am just a poor driver. Standard suspensions just dont last with me. Thats why I went for the OME setup. I am very happy with the car as it is now.
