A second Patrol? Can you have too many?

Speaking of '...buying another one...'

Cedric, have a look at this
http://www.cars.co.za/viewVehicle.php?V ... l-4x4-1995

Not to replace mine, but to add koolstof to the fleet, and to replace my ageing platkar.
At less than 60k, it is tempting.

So here's my question:
With milaege at 500k, if well looked after (really do not know), how far can the oilburner still go, before I will need to repalce it?
You are permitted to be biased.

It says: "Complete overall of engine and suspension 85 000km ago "

There's a guy on this forum called Dungbeetle.

He's over 700k, and still on the original clutch!
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Alex,
I have been known to own more than one...

These cars have over engineered drivetrains and will outlast the rest of the vehicle.
My issues with my older cars are things like brake component rubber and corrosion on electrical connectors ect.
I spent most of yesterday trying to get rubber grommets for a master cylinder on one of the safaris with no luck.

If you can spend the time replacing and repairing the small things , go for it.

Chris.

Alex, sorry mate we had loadshedding yesterday afternoon..... :helpsign: :helpsign:

I believe that the 4.2 diesel is a tank of a motor, as long as its been maintained properly. Grants Patrol, I wouldn't even hesitate to buy it if I had some spare cash lying around. 400 000Km is nothing on these motors. Like Christo says its more the little things that may need attention. The blue/grey one looks like its a clean slate car.... no mods or extras, well nothing on a wow factor. It may still be non turbo as well. It looks pretty neat considering the mileage. The 4.2 is not a motor that likes short stop start trips, so as a platkar replacement.......hmmmm not the ideal for that.

Its a tough call cause even at R60k, I believe that is a good deal. It will also be a silver top 4.2 which is the better TD42 to turbo.
Regards
Cedric
