GL vs GRX spec

Hello all,

Apologies if this is on the incorrect board, Mods, please feel to move to a more appropriate location.

I'm a prospective 'trol owner, shopping for a GU / Y61. Could someone please point out the differences between the "GL" and "GRX" spec levels?
So far my i/web searches show fabric or leather seats and I THINK plain vs wood grain interior inserts.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Depends on witch model but there is aircon to climate control not having seats at the back . Some have steel rims on gl others have allows but mostly the gl is always manual and most grx is a auto ....there were manual 45 grx models hope it helps

Also, on the older models (pre facelift), GRX models come out with leather, electric seats, electric sunroof, alloy wheels and colour coded door strips.
Tinus, your model is the facelift, came after mine ie. after 2004 or 2005 I think, and those are all auto's in GRX and manual GL's ... cheers.

I dont know the older models that well, but post 2005 you only get the 4.8 in GRX spec Auto. And the diesel is GL spec Manual. i might be wrong.

Welcome here.

The GL trim on the older models has black trim (Bumper, etc.) Also have a look. Not all the GL models have the extra tank. You will see that there will be one level indicator, or two, with a small one at the top of the main tank indicator. The GL should have 7 seats, but no head rest on the jump seats (seats in the back). As mentioned, the seats in the GL is material and manually operated. GRX sears are leather and the front seats are electrically operated. GL also does not have a sunroof, cruise control or climate control. There is also only aircon vents in the front and not for the back passengers. Steel rims compared to alloy rims. The GRX does also have a roof console that indicates the direction you are driving and time with some reading lights incorporated.

On the 4.8 2005 +

GL - cloth seats, plastic on arm rest, registered only as 5 seater. manual aircon, manual gearbox , manual seats, electric mirrors and windows, manaul cruise control and throttle, 2 airbags, ABS , diff lock , extra fuel tank, steel wheels 16 inch , vinyl spare wheel cover

GRX - leather and 3rd row seat, registered as 7 seater, leather covered center arm rest, climate control, electric front seats, more airbags, rear aircon,auto box , cruise control, (think fly by wire throttle) , ABS same, diff lock, extra fuel tank, mags 17 inch, plastic spare wheel cover, steering wheel buttons for cruise and radio, sunroof , rear seat's have seperate armrest in center

many GL's had leather seats fitted as option and front fog lights
