4.8 patrol wanted

Post by bartho van wyk »

Hi guys

Am in the market for a 4.8 but unsure of the following:
1. Does the gl have front centre and rear lockers ?
2. Do you get a grx with a manual box ?

Looking for a 4.8 but that would influence if i have to go for grx or gl. Luxuries not very important, the lockers and manual box much more important than the "sissy" stuff.

1. Both have part time 4x4 with rear diff lock. Auto hub lock - can obviously lock to ensure it works properly.
2. GL = POtent first gear, but I'm a softie and prefer the Auto. If you're going to boost the power the manual is probably beter though.

Very tough to find - believe me, I didn't ask for a bling mobiel (gold colour) ;-)

Have you looked at Lunar's wheels?

1] on a part time 4x4 when you engage 4x4 the output shaft is solid and does not have a centre diff so yes it is as if it is locked
2]the grx spec is only auto on the 4.8 as far as I know

Don't understand the downside. To me it simply means that your front diff has not worked as hard and should last MUCH longer than perm. 4x4.

No Problem Bartho

Here you will learn loads and loads about Patrols, inside, outside, under, on top and, under the BONNET!! Patrols are bullet proof and tough as hell. Transmission, gearbox, transfer case and diffs are over engineered and will last a long time, given they're serviced after water and mud driving. Can't go wrong with a Patrol, and all the info you'll need, you'll find right here!! :oldtimer: Or else on the Aussie Patrol site

Hi Bartho

Hier is die adres, daar is baie Patrol info maar min 4.8 spesifieke info.
Die Ausies hou meer van hul diesels.
