2nd Duel battery system

Post by offroadbiker »

So I am not entirely happy with the National Luna system that came with the Patrol that is currently running the two 32L Indel B fridges as well as that I am afraid the they are not going to be enough for the 2 weeks in the Kgalagadi.

Decided to go the way of a HCDP unit done by Bushpower and got me the 30A DC -DC 12V system that can at a later stage also take solar if needed (afforded ).

So this was my December project.....

Seeing that the drawers system with the kitchen and 2 32L are already in the back of the vehicle the only remaining place would be in the rear passenger "space".

I took out the two rear benches entirely and was planning to put in a complete "deck" to level the floor, but then decided to only put it in the place of the bigger seat so that if required I can still fit a third seat (we are a family of three so this made more sense).

Cut out a deck and covered with carpet drilled some holes in to not only fit properly to the vehicle itself but also to be able to properly tie down the fridge itself.

Fitted the deck and then the battery box with the DC-DC charger and the fridge with easy access for the front passenger.

Also fitted the required cabling running from the main battery to the back.

Took me two days but can be done in a couple of hours if everything is ready and available.......

Great idea - removing the rear seats gives one much more scope!
I plan to do same as we are just 2 persons.

This trip it will only be me and my dad and in that heat I prefer not to spoon with my father :surprised: QQQ

Other trips we will be 3 people and that is why I made it so that I can fit one of the rear seats so that there is seating for three people and then of course two tents, one for myself and the wife and one for mini me (who is almost bigger than me at age 14....)
