It looks like European plates. Might be left hand drive. Or someone from Nigeria trying to score a quick R15 000. Make sure before any money changes hands. There is a lot of scammers out there. Otherwise if you can pop a 4.2 in there it will be one sweet and cheap ride. Or go the yster way and pop a V8 in.

Thats because it is the cheapest and simplest of conversions. And a 4.2 has its merits....IanT wrote:Tinus you traitor how can you be thinking of going over to the dark side including black smoke, oil and low power![]()
Viva Petrol Viva
But the alternatvie for me would have been to take to the guy that did my Lexus conversion.
Cedric, that is they many of us are thinking right now!ricster wrote:I would snap that up in a second !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can reconcile yourself to 4km a litre, then yes maybe.Marino4x4 wrote:...Or go the yster way and pop a V8 in.
But once I have a proper supercharger on my Lexus, I can still get my 6+km per litre when driving sensibly, and then opt to press it down to 11,000 rpm in case there is a dune in front of me.

Re: Y61 Patrol for selling @R15,000.oo
I just spoke to the chap selling it
its a left hand drive and is from Denmark
Does anyone know whats the law about bringing a car into south Africa
and it does not leave ,is there not import duty and taxes on the vehicle
I remember we needed a carne de passage when we explored
north , if the vehicle did not leave do to a accident or what ever else
it would be covered

Re: Y61 Patrol for selling @R15,000.oo
LHD, that makes it a little bit more complicated.
But surely the car is already in SA and legally so?
It would not have been permitted into SA otherwise.
Since a certain date imprts of LHD is not permitted anymore, except for diplomats.
But of course current ones can remain as such.
I would not consider this vehicle unless one can convert to RHD.
It is frustrating and dangeours to drive LHD on the long roads. Can't overtake.
Converting is not impossible, but need patience and a RHD dash from Dawid V.

Re: Y61 Patrol for selling @R15,000.oo
My understanding about importing a car is that A. it is not easy, need Interpol clearance and the SA Gov may not allow it into the country (look at all the dirt cheap Pajero's running around in Bots that we can not buy in SA!!), with regard to buying diplomatic car, this is very simple (bought a Disco a few years back from the British embassy) they are registered on Enatis and the embassy gives you the papers with a letter saying that they are selling it to you, go to your local license Dep with RWC and it will be put into you name with a new reg number! Even is this one can't be done the spares on it are worth more than R15K

My son would like the LHD because then he can use a manual gearbox because he does not have a left hand!
