Re: Patrol 4.8 engine import
Hi! Has anybody ever tried to replace the 4.8 with a diesel engine? is it at all possible? Like replacing it with the 3l V6 Navara engine?

Re: Patrol 4.8 engine import
Why on earth would you want to do something like that? It just don't make sense. You will be ever so sorry!! The only thing that goes for diesel is the fuel consumption in the short term - and maybe the torque. The fuel smells terrible, performance sucks and when they start giving trouble - I do not even want to contemplate the consequences. Pass that 4.8 on to me if you don't want it any longer, but then rather fit a V8.

Re: Patrol 4.8 engine import
I think a diesel conversion onto a 4.8 would be very difficult !!
There is tooooo much electronics on a 4.8 me thinks

Re: Patrol 4.8 engine import
I would consider upgrading a 3ltr diesel patrol with a V6 diesel engine, but really not worth doing it to a 4.8 methinks.
Try find a handgrenaded 3ltr for good price then do the conversion.
I must say, in my opinion the 3ltr V6 D's are very lekker - I had a Jeep 3ltr which pulled my boat very nicely when i tried it, with a much better fuel consumption than the 4.8.... but I did notice the temps rising when slightly pushed the way I do the 4.8 , and not having EGT monitor etc, I would be very wary of doing this kind of work long term.
Its really about time that Nissan brought out a proper monster D engine in the Patrol that could compete with the V8 in the VX Landcruisers....
Maybe one day in my lifetime....
