Sounds very nice....looks like they fitted a rear locker ....whats up with the wider rear track ??? Did they put wider diffs in ??? The front and back must be the same surely. Pity about the engine......I would've stuck to the koolstoof motor but that just me

The wider rear track just means that the rear axle width will now match the front axle width. In the past, all Patrol pickups, (and Land cruiser 79's), use a slightly short axle in the rear. On the land cruiser the reason is still unclear, even when asking Toyota, but with the patrol it is said to be because of using the stronger H260 rear diff and stronger shorter axle assembly meant to carry more weight under harsh terrain. Said also to help turning circle... either way, everyone just ends up putting spacers in the back.
Diff lock is a winner though, ... and the fender flares are also great.
Not the biggest fan of the motor of course, but at that kind of milage for a bakkie that size its not a bad combo. TD42Ti (auzzi spec) would have been the better choice of course.
I really like the airbags and ABS though, i wish mine had those.

Russ I think the feul on the 30l is a plus point but looking at its history I must agree 4.2tdi aus speck will be a mutch better choice. ..this is africa. ..we need things that work and keeps on working like the 4.2 that was in there.
From what I understand its has a lot to do with green points on the carbon emissions.
The bakkie needed a 4.8 with automatic box ....that would have been the winner

Looks really nice! The one in the pics is the Aussi spec so I dont think it will come with snorkel and replacement bumper like shown.
Also not sure that the 3.0D is really the way to go. But it is all about emissions and TAX around it that causes Manufacturers to go this route. This pickup with a 4.8 petrol motor would have been AWESOME!

Wonder if the bonnet protector will now be available from the spares department?
Clever adding parts that's been around for 9 years and calling it new, i.e.a add head lights, grill, wheel arches , airbags etc are all from the 2005+ model. Can't see if they have updated the dash as well - wonder if it comes with the bubble feature :-)
Previously the rear diff looked like you could pull the halfshaft without removing the rim (what was it called semi or full floating?) . Russ maybe you can confirm but with they went with the std difflock axle then that is gone.

The Patrol pickup, new and old (including my 2007), uses a fully floating rear axle.
The dashboard of the new one is still like mine however, its only exterior cosmetics,difflock, and things like rear discs(abs). Airbags have been in for a few years already.
The Pickup in the above picture is sold in the UAE in the 4.8 (Ie: TB48 as used in the wagons)... So much for Their emissions laws/Tax.
But yes,.. it was the pressure on the carbon footprint that forced their hand apparently, well, perhaps its an excuse to rid themselves of all the ZD30 motors lying in inventory factory somewhere between Japan and Australia.
Furthermore to my point of view,... if we are to use the 3.0lt motor, why could we not have the 3.0CRD rather than the 3.0Di.. in fact, it baffles me why the CRD is still not in the other wagons sold here,...Australia stopped their 3.0Di usage ages ago... But ja, africa,...15 years behind..
If my patrol TD42 N/A ever gives up the ghost, i will fit a 1HDFTE and auto box (from the Cruiser VX).... i believe this would be the best combination ever assembled!

Looking at the pics of the motor it does look different to the older 3.0DI. Maybe there have been improvements to this motor. The intercooler and piping are not the same as my previous DI.
