Runs well
GRX has now done just over 1000km. Drove it to Witbank and back yesterday. Really surprised at how it hauls on the open road. Absolutely no lack of grunt there! The other thing is that the fuel consumption is really not bad at all. Way better than my old V8 Land Rover Discovery.

Re: Runs well
Well Tinus, I've just filled the tank again again and grief but fuel has become expensive! But here's the surprising thing: I did 440km, almost exactly 50% stop start in town in Jhb and 50% open road (but remembering that I cannot currently travel at constant rpm while the engine is being run in, so its up and down the rev range all the time by varying speed and gear selection) and the combined average is 17.01 l/100km. Not bad at all considering. My guess that once run in the open road consumption is likely be under 16 l/100km.

Re: Runs well
I'm looking at this thread: http://patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=2036 and I am wondering why my consumption is so much better. I am absolutely confident that my numbers are accurate and that we refilled to the same point. A friend of mine recently replaced his GRX with a more recent spec one and said he noticed a significantly improved consumption. I wondering if Nissan has changed something.

Re: Runs well
So I was wondering if I was mistaken on fuel consumption but a friend has just had his 40k km service done and tells me that his calculated consumption on the open road at a steady 115/120 km/h is just below 15l/100km and I see the same has been reported by another 4.8 GRX owner. I can't help wondering if this can be but there you have it. The first mentioned guy had another 4.8 before and says this one gives better consumption.

Re: Runs well
Tinus,
Just make sure to use the GPS distance travelled when calculated otherwise you might die of a heart attack before reporting.
Those 35"will skew the distance recorded on the ODO allot.
Enjoy the trip and bring us home bound guys some Patrol in pose pictures.
Save travel.
