Maybe I should have qualified "very hard braking". As far as I understand ABS it will sense when the wheels start to lock up and then engages. Mine makes a sort of 'Grrrrr' sound when it does.
Its a good point Stefan. On a very slippery surface (wet, oily tar or very loose gravel or iced road) even a fairly light touch may bring the ABS into play.

Tinus, that sounds like a great idea. Just let me know when!

Clem, I replaced the OEM suspension with an Ironman setup at around 130 000 km - that's about 55 000 km on these shocks and coils.
