What paint for rock sliders

Post by ricster »

I have acquired a set of rock sliders.... from the "Wimpenizer"..... I have had them shot blasted at my mates factory and he even primer'ed them for me.

Now.... What is the best way from here? Do I powder coat them, or stone chip paint, or just Hammerite paint them, or.......

Maintaining the paint finish is obviously a concern, as they are rock sliders..... and so they shall they be used for just that..... but i want them to look good too

Any suggestions??
Regards

I bought a can of spray on "ruberrising paint" at builders and it woked perfectly so far, only thing I will do is also put a clear coat over it for better protection and ceeping the black colour looking nice - this is the DIY solution, otherwise powder coat.

If you're gong to be rock-sliding, I suppose you would want a finish that you could touch up yourself; this would rule out powder coating. IMHO Hammerite is what you're looking for. It's tough and hard wearing, goes on easy and the colour should be easily obtainable if you want to touch-up or re-paint.

Stone chip for DIY ,use a product called durabak.
You can paint it on with a brush but it doesn't look as neat as when you use the rubberizing gun ,after you did the durabak you spray clear coat on. It take +- 12 hours to dry but it becomes as hard as stone.
