On the Nissan Club Events Calendar there is a weekend getaway to Meiringdskloof - Didibeng mountain trail on 28th 29th and 30th June 2013. This is a beautiful trail, but 2 years ago only the Patrols and a Jeep Rubicon with front and rear lockers could make it all the way to the top on the pass.
If anyone wants to do this trail, please let me know. I unfortunately cannot make this one, but will be willing to arrange it if there are some who want to go. It is also a hop skip and a jump from Lesotho's border if anyone wants to do a quick day trip to Afriski for the day. That too is a spectacular drive, scenery wise( all tar except for the last bit to Afriski, but can be done in a platkar )
The plan was to arrange for everyone to meet up on Friday evening at Meiringskloof, and then Saturday drive the Didibeng mountail trail, which should take most of the day. Then return to Meiringskloof and either early Sunday morning drive out into Lesotho to Afriski. You pay R50 per person to get in, but they give you a R50 voucher to spend inside at the bar for food or a lekker Gluhwein!!!. Then drive out back into SA ( about 2 hours ) and then back home. ( we drove from Clarens to Alberton in under 3 hours.... and we all know the Iron Maiden is not the fastest vehicle around ....
