Re: Discovery Channel - Nissan Patrol
When they were showing the preparations to the engine bay, there was a good shot of the Nissan badge. That was before they put the covers infront of the radiator to prevent radiator freeze.

Re: Discovery Channel - Nissan Patrol
My point exactly -- if the Nissan guirus were on th eball they would have provided those "snotneuslappies" WITH Nissan badges on [Try that trip with Tyotta and see how they stick Tyotta badges everwhere - even on the clothes of the partyricster wrote:When they were showing the preparations to the engine bay, there was a good shot of the Nissan badge. Re: Discovery Channel - Nissan Patrol
Dis Stoopid,
Why do you want to test the capabilities of the oil in a machine that can do 1,5M km?
In these conditions(with an adventure to match) its rather a test of a good machine...
BTW do you guys know why they did the Camel Trophy in Land Rovers?

Re: Discovery Channel - Nissan Patrol
In regard the the nissan badge issue., here's my opinion.
I work in film and media (I am an Art Director), and i shoot countless commercials and series every year where a vehicle may be used for its suitability, but the Brand (Nissan in this case) are not party to the investment of the program, and hence have zero management over the series in relation to the vehicle.
When this happens,(and it can happen for many various reasons, from new model launch protocol, to financial backing differences, to brand/production value association and so on) they need to make 100% sure that their brand is not brought into disrepute, whilst outside their sphere of influence/factors they cannot control.
Happens more times on television that you'd believe. Thats why they put that orange "wrap" on the Patrol and thats why "Nissan" badges were only seen here and there and didnt feature as the prime subject of any shot.
Its a defence to safeguard the brand and is widely used. Yes, the Nissan performed very well and they could have gained positive exposure, but if the Nissan had failed they would have gained negative exposure, without the Nissan representative there to either remedy the issue or offer reasonable explanation.
Just a fact. I have to get clearances on every photo, painting or brand used in any form of media. I also have to remove vehicle badges, laptop badges and/or anything else that could feature in a shot, partucularly if the brand/object features greater than 1/8th of any full frame shot.

Re: Discovery Channel - Nissan Patrol
I just looked at Cedrics Links, appears the badge issue isnt relevent in those episodes, so maybe it WAS just that front grill cover they put on it to keep it warm!.
Ps: I wonder how much extra power one gets from the normally aspirated engine when driven in such cold temps (ie: cold air = bigger bang?) kinda like a natural intercooler.

Re: Discovery Channel - Nissan Patrol
I checked out the other episodes trailers, snow, desert and jungle. I do not have DSTV so wanted to see what it is all about. Here is the link to the Malaysian rain forest trailer.
Here you see Nissan and Patrol all over the place. Looked like Nissan got onto the bandwagon or it was just the protection that covered the badge.
The script writer also made a mistake at 2:32 into the clip. The guy say it is a 4.2L V6 engine. Did not now Nissan made a 4.2L V6.
Look like a great program, sorry I missed it.
Cheers
