GQ Starter advice please
Morning all
over the weekend while camping/fishing with my 4year old we had the misfortune of the green truck not starting - battery is brand new and she doesn't even swing at all.......just click, click
fortunately parked on a slight embankment i rolled 2meters forward and she purrs
so am i right in thinking it's the starter, and where do i go to from here? replace or fix and who can i take it to that is trustworthy
thanks guys

Re: GQ Starter advice please
Firstly check that your earth wires are properly connected and secure.
Then have the battery checked for dead cells.

Re: GQ Starter advice please
With time and age those connections get a little rusty. On my SANI, I loosened the earth cable that connected to the body and cleaned till clean metal, and if I remember correctly the earth cable connected to the block aswell. I think this was where the problem was. After that the starter spun like a washing machine on spin cycle....ha ha

Re: GQ Starter advice please
Hi,
I don't want to sound negative, but I had a similar problem on my GQ. Newish battery but couldn't handle the big motor. It would start a couple of times with no problems and then I needed to charge it every time I parked it for a while. Alternator charges great and voltages would also be around 12,6 but still couldn't turn that 4.2 , it was the amps that was too low. Got a new big Varta with 100Ah and a CCA(cold cranking amps) of 800amps If I'm not mistaken. End of problems.
Long story short, make sure you have the right battery for that truck.
Hopefully its just a bad connection on the earth wire.

Re: GQ Starter advice please
steffaansie i'm cautiously optimistic
but what buggs me is that early saturday morning it was cranking very slowly (with old battery) a couple of times
i left it a few minutes and tried again and just went click click - so it does sound as if the solenoid kicks in
i removed the battery and took it to battery shop who tested it and showed dead cell, so i bought a new battery and took it home, connected it (with my 4year old bubbling with excitement cause now him and dad can finally go camp/fish) and guess what......click click click
got it rolling forward like 2 meters and it started, so hence my starter motor question
drove to magalies stopped and tried again.....click click click and ever since click is all i get...
