I see a few clouds developing here in the Alberton area...... hmmm... rain .... sand = mud.

Again if you don't want to get muddy please join us anyway.... while we are kickin' up mud in our 4 wheel drives ( specially for Grant :blonde: :blonde: ) for a few minutes, then we go in convoy to Big Boss Auto.

You are of course welcome to go directly to Big Boss if you prefer.... we will see you there !!!!
Regards

I don't have a 4x4 this weekend, so I can't join you in the mud-kicking. I also don't have a fancy platkar this weekend, so I can't proceed to Big Boss Auto either...

Oh what to do, what to do?

Ja, lag maar lekker!

Chuck is getting a new turbo and will only be back next week. It's a smaller unit, so it will spool up earlier than the monster that Alpine initially fitted. They're also converting to an oil-cooled turbo instead of the water-cooled Alpine setup. According to them a water-cooled turbo will cause the Patrol to overheat on long uphills, like all of ours with an Alpine turbo do. I am eagerly awaiting the outcome of this one...

The platkar is another sad saga on its own. The panelbeater only got the replacement fender a week after the car got checked in with him - he blames a Nissan factory strike last week. Then it took him another four working days to figure out that the car's door also needs replacement. How the heck can a panelbeater take 9 working days to figure that out? They already had the car prepped for the spray booth by the time he called me with the news yesterday. Then he called me again this morning (very upset) and demanded to know why I told my insurance company that they were useless & wasting all our time. Pfft - what a tool!

Silly questions:

So for the oil cooled versus water cooled turbo:
Do you still use the same EGT?
What about the pistons. Are the same pistons okay for the oilcooled turbo? Is the heat in the pistons more or less with an oil cooled turbo?

Gents

I had a great day, started slow when I found out all the photos taken at Big Boss was gone as my daughter "borrowed" my memory card without telling me.

Thanx Grant, Cedric, Alex, (and Hardbody driver, sorry I cannot remember your name) I had a great day.
