Hi
I am looking at attaching 2 recovery point at the front and back of my car.
What is the better recovery point of the two options below?
Are the 10000 Lb rating on the hook adequate for a car like a Patrol?

Where are you standard Patrol recovery points??
At some of the 4x4 events you are not allowed to have those hooks as recovery points.

Those black hooks are unlikely to fit on the standard point on your car.

Have you discovered buying the standard hooks and bolts from Nissan? The boring repeat bit "use rated bolts"
Those bottom ones are probably better. But then you need to use shackles. The advantage of using the hooks is that you can use "soft" recoveries.

You must use high tenstile bolts to attach them otherwise they will dislodge and hurt somebody - this is what happend last year at Rust de Winter because the wrong bolts was used on the hook.

The red ones are by far more practical in my opinion. With the use of the correct type and size bolts, you can recover almost anything.
The use of shackles is no extra hassle at all. Mine are hanging permanently on the front of my Iron Maiden, ready for action

The 1998 Patrol does not have holes in the chassis to enable the use of the later recovery point, and thus it is limited to one standard recovery point.
10 000lb is about 4400kg, which means that even two of them are not enough to do snatch recovery on a Patrol.
So while I genuinely prefer soft recoveries without shackles, option 2 would be better here.

I can make the plates at work. Just need to figure out a design.
High tensile bolts are a given. Do not want to build a big kettie aiming right at my head!!
