By die eerste bult sal daar 3 kolle (2 aan die bestuurder se kant en een aan die co-driver se kant - of anders om) wees wat jy moet raak ry anders verloor jy punte. So jy moet jou voertuig ken en weet waar die wiele sit!

You're right not to discount the obstacle's difficulty grade! It still has a bit of unevenness, but it seems to have been smoothed over with a fresh layer of surface soil. The fresh soil introduces a problem of its own: the slope becomes steeper towards the end, just when your rear tyres reach the soft sand.Alex Roux wrote:That first obstacle used to have a few twisters in. It seems to be flat now.
So it looks quite straight forward. Or how will we be making it more "interesting"?
With good tyres & a good vehicle (uhm... something like Chuck Norris!) we were able to "crawl" that hill when we got there, but I expect the top section to be spun out badly by the time you guys drive it late in the afternoon.
We're going to to make it more difficult to maintain momentum by forcing you to zig-zag like a dronkie on the way up (or lose out on valuable points), so expect some fun & games!

Andre Durand en Riaan sal weer saam ry;
Theuhan en Oom Mac kan saamry.
@Christo - Andre Erasmus het aangedui dat hy die 18de by die hindernis sal kan kom help.
Sal laat weet....
Groete

Raaait... part one is behind us, we're preparing for the actual building part!
I suggest that we get togther at 10:00 (instead of 08:00), as there is not that much work to be done on/at the obstacle itself. I think we won't need so many volunteers either, so if your name is on the "maybe" list you don't need to feel bad if can't make it. You're still welcome to come along if you want to, of course!
We will need to get the following done on the day:
Build/prepare obstacle (Sat 4 Aug)
"Work on obstacles will then also take place on Saturday 4 August (10h00 till 17h00)."
"Work on obstacles will continue on Saturday 11 August (08h00 till 13h00). The final inspection of the obstacles will be done on Saturday 11 August at 14h00."

We will need to get the following done on the day:
- Painting text on some signs. These will be made of carton and will already have a layer of white PVA at the time. I'll make some stencils to outline the letters, we'll need someone with a steady hand to complete them. I'll bring the necessary paint and brushes.
- Hammering some spikes into the ground. Andre Durand is welding them for us - a flat 10-15cm plate at the top with a 30cm or so spike underneath to keep it in position. We may decide to paint their tops too, but experience has shown that the paint tends to get spun off the metal. I'll bring a few hammers and a rubber mallet.
- Stringing banner tape between dropper poles. The poles are already there, and more or less in place. We may decide to move them a few meters this way or that way. I will collect the banner tape before the weekend.
- Fix/locate a metal board on the ground. Andre is also providing us with this one, but it will need to be painted still. We'll need some contrasting colours to paint a few lines on it. I'll bring more paint and more brushes.
- Plant a length of PVC pipe (50 mm, swimming pool plumbing variety) vertically in the ground. It must be planted deep enough to support about 5 kilograms on top. I have the pipe already and wil bring it with.
- Drive the obstacle whilst following our rules to evaluate the difficulty level.
- Finalise the rules and write them down.

Sorry guys .... I'm running around like a headless chicken at the moment, and need to get a few things done this weekend before the Lesotho trip. Can I take a rain check for this weekend please.
