Novices
It is interesting to note who still regards themselves as novices despite some serious experience and kit.

Re: Novices
Kit maketh not the man
I could argue that almost every person who reads this, has "serious kit", as any Patrol is surely just about the most "serious kit" available?
And as for experience, surely it depends on the yardstick? The day I can out-drive Sakkie (he who recently showed the guys how at Moegatle's birthday party), I will change mine to the next level!

Re: Novices
I think experience is all relative.... If you think you know it all.... then sometime something will pop up and make you realize ..... " hmmmm I didn't think about that"... and keeping you mindset on the path of .... I can always learn something new, will help keep one on the right path.
I've been doing the 4x4 thing for a while now..... and I am still a novice.... with a little experience.
BUT...... ( and please don't take this the wrong way )
Driving a Patrol, and i think there are others that will agree with me, makes you lazy. Watch the guys in the HB's and Navaras, or any other vehicle besides the Patrol, Cruiser, and the likes. Do I choose my line correctly? No, cause the Patrol compensates for me being silly. When I had my Sani, with no diff locks or LSD and independent front suspension, I had to choose VERY carefully, and work both me and the Sani to complete many obstacles. With the patrol... agg we sommer put-put straight through. We get excited if we manage to get one wheel off the ground.....
So in short my opinion is that many guys in other vehicles other than Patrols and Cruisers, are possibly more experienced than us in our unbelievable Patrols.
But are they, and us novices? Yip we are always learning..... Watch some of the Pro's on TV in the big competitions..... hmmmmm .... I don't think they are novices, but are they still learning.... hell yeah !!

Re: Novices
Ok, I accept we're all novices. Some of us more so, and some of us less so.

Re: Novices
This thread illustrates why I enjoy the company of Patrollers so much.
Oh, and Peter, if you are talking about the same Sakkie that I think you are (Isuzu enthusiast), then I couldn't agree more.
