Canvas sealing muti

Post by Peter Connan »

Does anybody know of a muti that can be painted onto canvas to make it properly waterproof?

Thanks

Hello Peter

I used Nu Seal on a dome tent and it worked well. Available at some outdoor shops. I bought mine at Tent co in Kempton Park about a year ago.

What about scotch guard (3M product). Comes in a can.... but not sure as to how effective it is. I know I had my lounge suite protected with it and when wine etc was spilt on it it just beaded up and ran off. Life span of the product would be an issue

Thanks Cedric

I did some googling on ScotchGuard and came across an article stating that scotchguard would not be clever for the application I have in mind.

Reason being, it attracts oil stains and they become virtually impossible to clean out. This particular article recommends something called Sunbright 303. I then phoned the SA branch, and spoke to the sales manager, who reckons it is not ideal for my application but might work.

The search continues...

Peter,

Get a can of Nu Seal. I used it with great success in the shop when we still where a dealer for trailer company. Best way to apply is through a spray gun. Two coats on both sides of the seam.

Thanks Grant, I tried the Nu Seal that comes in a spray can, and I definately need something better than that.

Do you know if it's the same stuff?
