1998 GQ 4.2 Diesel pickup brake pads & brake cylinders

Post by Jules »

Good morning

A friend of mine has a 1998 GQ 4.2 DIESEL PICKUP with leafsprings front and back. Currently the lorrie has 150K op die klok. He was informed that his lorrie needs new brake pads in front and that the rear brake cylinders needs to be replaced, according to the local spareshops it can only be purchased from the stealers @ about R5K. Any GQ pickup owners that have had similar parts replaced and where was it sourced

Here is a pic of his lorrie

Jules, I can't comment on the brake shoes, but as far as the cylinders are concerned, any competent engineering shop should be able to sleeve them.

Try CBF in Strydompark. I had new cylinders machined, new seals and brake pads fitted on the front of my patrol. Cannot remember the price but it was between 1.5k and 2k David offers an excellent service and knows his stuff.
