Difflock 3.0Di GRX

Post by Alf »

I have managed to break the difflock gear on my 2001 3.0Di GRX automatic - ayone knows where I can find a replacement part? Nissan does not sell the gear seperately and a new unit will rip me around R9000.
Thanks

I think the Patrol's diff lock is porobably the weakest link in an otherwise very solid drivetrain.
Besides the vacuum mechanism that sometimes requires one going a bit back-and-front to engage it, the gear itself seems to strip quite easily. And driving with it before it probably engaged will strip it with almost certainty.
It was telling at the early March Moegatle outing just how many of the older Patrols did not have working diff lockers anymore.

If mine breaks I would be very tempted to go for the air lockers once a for all - dan is mens klaar gesukkel.
If you don't do serious 4x4 you probably don't need it, but if you do serious 4x4'ing, then airlockers are just so much more convenient.

I gave up on my Patrol's factory locker and will be fitting an ARB locker shortly. R9000 is not very far off the price of a complete ARB rear locker!

The locker on my Patrol has this much wear, which causes the gears to slip & never engage comletely:
