Gday everybody
Well when i first introduced myself, some would of Realised that i Own 3 Nissan Patrol's . Back in 2009 i was asked buy a family freind, and was asked if i was interested in getting an Old Nissan Patrol from his Paddock. At that time i Hand owned a 4wd as i was only 14. So with a Quick discussion with the Folks it was confirmed and i was Going to pick the Patrol up withing a week or two.
Back in the 1970's my old man had owned 2 Nissan Patrol's (G60's) and used them for shooting trips out west of NSW, in areas such as Bourke and louth, but that was before my day (i will upload a few pics of dads old truck).
Dad know's these old truck's and thats part of the reason i was allowed to get it for use around the property. Ariving with the Trailer the G60 was about to Begin a new life on our Farm. Only just making it onto the Trailer the Big G60 was i need of some TLC, and a Tune.
When She arived home it was all hands on deck to push the heavy lump of Metal of the trailer as she Refused to start. From there on i spen the next couple of weeks, on afternoons after school playing aobut with the patrol. She then Started but needed work. I lobbed in with a new set of Points,Coil,Spark Plugs and a Fuel Filter and a fully Charged Exide Battery and shortly after, with a little dose of petrol in the Carby the Patrol was alive.
From that Day on i Spent Hours admiring and usign the Patrol for what she does best. Originally i was Heavily Considering restoring the Blue G60 Patrol, but with the rust thats got in it i though, altohugh its achievable , i could find something better for a starting point. So form then on shes Pulled Stumps out,Carried a Fair share of Hay, carried the annual loads of firewood, Ploughed and Pulled down Trees and Logs.

Re: 1978 Nissan (G60) Patrol - Australia
while theses old nissan just never die, the Body work is slowly rusting away, but the Engine and Chassis are Tougher than nails, and the gearbox is nothing short of Solid, But any ways here is some pictures, Hope you Enjoy
The patrol was actually registered a year and a half before i got it,but it had been driven on the Beach and the salt started to take its toll on the old girl. This is how the G60 looked when i picked it up back in 2009, after a year under the trees, she was looking ruff.

After a Cut and Polis and a spray of the Wheel the Blue G60 was starting to look Good.

We were due to pull down and old fence line,so that day i turned her into a Bulldozer

Beautiful!
Interesting the similarities to a Land Drover Defender.

Agree but look at the air vents and position of the headlights. I think the LC & Troll are both copies of the original Land Rover but with added reliability

G60Michael
I notice the Nissan brand on the grill of the '78 Patrol.
Do you know at what point Datsun started to be branded as Nissan in Australia?
We always knew our Nissans as Datsuns until the early Eighties. Was this only in South Africa?
