Sorry, I don't know, but I do know that the Weber 38DCD works very well, and spares etc are easier to come by.
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Re: Carburetor for 2.8 (L28)
As Peter said the Weber 38 DCD works well.
My Safari had a Weber 40 on but parts were not available so I swopped it for a 38.
Bought an adaptor from Windsor Garage in Parow and had it TIG welded to the original manifold. I think the main advantage of the 38 Weber is that most places have stock of spares as this was a common carburettor used on the big six Fords and they are easy to tune for whatever your setup is (...you can change the venturies for better low down throttle response or go big for better topend power...) Check out : http://www.datsunzgarage.com/engine/
I know some 2.8's run on duel SU's which give better fuel consumption than the single Weber.
If it was my toy ( ..and fuel consumtion is not an issue ...) I would put on tripple sidedraughts Dellorto's http://www.alamomotorsports.com/weber/K659.jpg- nothing like that snort from a side draught at wide open throttle!
You can also go fuel injection as the head already has the openings for the injectors

Don't bowwer wif karbryttur .. fiot the fjoel indjeksjin from a 2,8 Skyline GTX or the Laurel or the 280 ZX - I did so on LOBO, and not one second of regret ...
BUT - if you want to Carb . YES the 38 Weber is the No-1 most favoured - BUT the Dellorto is beter in that it keeps on feeding on steep hill climbs [the Weber runs dry and "vreks' on you --- up Moegatle, that can be an adrenaline experience of the 7th degree
