SWB GU Patrol on Gumtree

I could not believe my eyes, I have been wanting to import on for ages.

I went to have a look at it this morning, the dealer first advertised it as a 4500 but when I drove it I knew there must be something wrong as it dropped to 110km/h on uphills, then when opening the bonnet I showed him that it had a TB42 motor as factory standard so it is a 4.2SGL, then he fixed the ad.

Everything works including the 4x4 and the front diff. It is really in immaculate condition, but there are no service books, only invoices for the past few services the previous owner had done at Nissan.

Salesman said that the previous owner bought it about a year ago at Nissan Sandton for R 160k and is now immigrating so that is why he is selling.

I would have loved to own it, but a 4.2 petrol is just too heavy on fuel for me, it would have been fine if it was a 4.5 that at least had some proper grunt for the fuel usage but the 4.2 is strong down below, but is just too "pap" higher up for me to accept the fuel consumption.

Bertjan, sorry I can't see the add (web filter).

Is this a GU (Y61) or GQ (Y60)? Surely the GU never came with TB42?

Also, how much do they want? R160k is way too much for a GQ, even if it's a shorty?

It is the GU (Y61) and it should be the 4500!

It is a GU, and obviously it was imported, and also obviously it did come from the factory with a TB42 as it is on the Chassis plate in the photo.

So there is something new for all of us, I guess we learn something new form time to time.

Thy want R 130k for it, but the salesman said that considering that it is a 4.2 and not a 4.5 that he first thought and also considering it does not have a FSH as he also first thought, only the last few service invoices, you are welcome to make an offer, he will take the offer to the owner and then let you know, he says he is only selling for owner and asking a 5% comm from that.

Jong, die salesman is maar nuut in die game lyk dit my. Nee dit is beslis nie automatic nie, dis normale handrat.

If it was diesel, I would have bought it on the spot.

Guys, i emailed the seller ages ago asking if it was a TB42 / TB45 or TD42 (thinking it was a misprint) . I still have not received an answer.

When i was on the Farm up near harties a few years ago i saw one at a second hand car spot in Four-Ways. Immaculate condition, silver, with very low km selling for R130 000 onco.

These vehicles almost all came out with the ZD30 motor, but they did also make some with the TD42 (Diesel) and on the new shape ones in the UAE they have the option of the TB48 (i know can you imagine this) . I have never ever heard of one with the TB42 motor though.
