Hey fellow Patrol'ers
My name is Wouter (Yes, i'm Afrikaans) and I'm 44. Birth date 7 May.
I'm a systems analyst in IT
Living in Pretoria
Previous 4x4's: 1996 Landrover Disco v8; 2003 Landrover Disco v8.
Current other vehicles: 2010 Huyndai i30 2l; (looking out for a good Disco Td5)
Why did I buy the Patrol?
I always liked the tough look and I got this one for a good price.
All Disco's in this price range were scrappy. (Lost my previous Disco when business went crash in 2008)
Maybe it's a good time to see if I am biased towards Landrover
My son nicknamed the Patrol 'Chuck Norris' so i guess that's the name for it from now on...
I bought Chuck two days ago. Saturday 18 June 2011
There is a huge fueltank which I can't say what size but by the looks of it, it can probably take 120l
It's a 1996 model with 175000km
There is a Weber carb conversion on it
Nice 15" rims which I think is not the right type for 4x4, but we'll see after I fitted good tyres
There is also a bullbar with steel bumper.
Interior is well looked after
What am I planning to do:
To give it a suspension upgrade
Get a roofrack
install drawer system
fit a whinch
fit a dual battery system
Fit a snorkel
...and go 4x4ing
Planned Destinations:
Kgalagadi
Moremi
Okovango delta
Dreaming about:
going to Serengetti

Welkom Wouter. Nou het jy 'n regte lorrie
(sorry, I know I am biased, but I will try not to hold it against you)
Firstly, enjoy your Patrol. If possible, I would like to see some pictures of your Weber installation. Those large tanks are normally around 140l, and if you have a second tank next to the propshaft you could have about 200l in total (that is what I have).
However I would like to warn you that there is already a Chuck Norris on this forum. A Y60 4.2 Turbodiesel. So maybe you will have to re-christen it Chuck Senior?
Anyway, you should be able to find info here on virtually all the mods you plan to do just by reading the old threads
