4.5 GRX Clutch

Post by navigator »

For de manne what counts:

I am planning a Richtersveld trip (good roads no serious routes) in June - my question is:

My Patrol has 180 000 on clock and oil & filters and hoses have been maintained OK.

My clutch is still without any shuddering or protestations BUT it has always " taken up" very quickly - I have no trouble selecting gears when cols etc.

Should I be concerned?

How do you know when your Patrol clutch is looking for some attention

Do the whole vehicle shudder or just the clutch pedal, when is it the thrush bearing and when the clutch that is packing up?

Navigator,

Should not be a problem. I did 340k before I chanaged the clutch.Shuddering got worse. When we took the clutch out it was almost to the rivets. Springs were shot.

NO - i have no shuddering and no slipping.

The only thing that make me think is that the clutch "takes" very close once you start letting the pedal come back off the floor.

I hope you understand - thus nothing else than it taking quite "soon"

I had the clutch, crank shaft oil seal, and front left brake piston replaced today for under R6k. Not nearly as bad a I thought it would be.
