:bravo: ..... And agreed... especially point no 6.... If I compare the confidence I had in my Sani with my confidence in the Patrol.... worlds apart. .... so yes, a very valid point!!

BTW: The snake in lover's lane was a spotted bush snake (Philothamnus semivariegatus). They are typically arboreal (live in trees) and diurnal (day-active). They have orange irises & blue tongues, but you have to get really close to notice that. This is a very fast-moving & highly-strung snake that is difficult to catch in the wild and next to impossible to tame in captivity. If you do end up catching one, they will bite readily too - see this link for a photo of a guy who had his finger nipped by one: http://www.sareptiles.co.za/forum/viewt ... =6&t=15164

What I cannot identify though, is this "gogga" - do any of you guys/girls know what it is?

Thanks Christo and Oom Mac, you guys take better pictures than I do.

Another thought has come to me: This may well be one of the best tests you can find to evaluate vehicles for overlanding trips. It is relatively long, a lot of it consist of normal farm roads, parts of it are fairly rough allowing you to evaluate ride quality and comfort, it requires you to take all your camping equipment, and if the season is right it has virtually every type of obstacle except dune/beach sand.
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Koerantman also enjoyed himself! for anybody that has not done that route yet and who lives nearby... shame on you!
I enjoyed it and Oom Mac's Lobo was a pleasure to drive... Imagine me enjoying driving something older than I am...
I, however, will not upload photo's yet (got close to 400 of them) but check for my full trip-report in the July Drive Out / WegRy. I really enjoyed it and would like to once again say a big thank you to everybody for inviting me along and accepting me in your ranks. As a Koerantman it was nice to see how members of the 4x4 community (in general, not the forum) interact with each other and enjoy themselves without having to worry about pissing each other off.

Whenever I am in your vicinity again and you have a GTG, please let me know... who knows, maybe I have a Safari of my own by then...
