Jerry can holders

Post by ricster »

Well, I had the wind knocked out of my sails a bit after looking to buy jerry can holders to hold 4 jerry cans (2 for water and 2 for diesel)....... but where do they suck those prices out of ????.. :surprised: .. it isnt rocket science to make them.

I am all for someone making a living.. .. but somebody is making a killing on theses things.. .. I mean come on, they aren't platinum plated !!!

ok enough venting of frustration..... does anyone have jerry can holders to fit on a roofrack lying around that they might want to sell? I also am looking for the bracket to hold a Cadac gas bottle.

If anyone has a drawing of these things that I can look at then I will organise to get the steel cut welded and annodised and make the damn things myself.

I looked at Outdoor Warehouse. But the prices are about the same. I'm just gobsmacked at paying +/- R600 for a bit of thin flat bar bent here and there with a small hinge and a clasp. It really doesn't look like heavy duty, kick-donkey equipment. Its not a question of the money, its just where is the value for money. Maybe I'm seeing this wrong, and maybe the cost to manufacture, labour, shipping etc. and R 585.00 for a double jerrycan holder is fair. I just don't see it.

I get the feeling its a case of, well you need this and there are only a few people making them so take it or leave it. I guess this will be a grudge purchase for me.

Please note this is no dis-respect to Front Runner and outdoor warehouse, and places like it.... its just my opinion and feeling

yo Ricster - Just "ratchet" them in place [but if you do it wrong, they slip n slide all over the show] - I prefer 8mm ski-rope & "parcel wrap" with "8-slag" knots [weet nie wat is 8-slag in Ingrish nie]

Ek het self al die platyster, ystersaag en sweismasjien ding gedoen waarvan G-Man praat. Ek het ook Front-Runner houers. Ek moet se...my handgemaakte houers werk uitstekend goed.
