Hi All,

I could perhaps also lend a helping hand.....

I have a friend who is in the import and export industry (mainly fabric) and thus have an import and export licence - but he may import or export anything as long as it has nothing to do with medical stuff - I suppose you need different type of licence for it. He has indicated to me on previous occassions he is willing to help if need be to bring parts and spares in - and I am sure he won't mind if it is not only for me but the forum guys.

So if there is a helping hand needed with the aspect of having a licence in getting it here please give me a shout!!

Regards

Morning Pieter,
You guys are doing so well, we are slowly developing a picture of how things will pan out - I am sure none of us want to do anything illegal etc., but even with duties etc., the pricing will be a great deal cheaper!

An alternative/added suggestion is to find a suitable person (a retired?) who is knowledgable enough to do it, both technically and from a business perspective, and to make it viable and profitable, (otherwise it is not worth it to him/her)?

Also to keep it in line with similar outlets (e.g. Landy on Line?), and then the costs of bulk ordering etc. (containerisation, service delivery, transport, etc.) can all be made very effective.

By the way, 'profitable' is not profiteering! it simply oils the wheels of good business?

Many thanks for your excellent contribution!
Regards,
Chris.

I am looking at a market in Europe where we can get items Nissan / Patrol at much less than here - BUT again, getting it here is the foul up.
.So - how I will address it: Get firm order with deposit paid [but deposit my be in escrow until delivery. Looking at the legal implications of that .. and as soon as I can have a reliable reputable legal institution to come up with an all round acceptable solution, this retired old pensioner will be bring Nissan parts via Europe [and any other make of car as well]
Some advice [on p/m please - let us not clutter the thread] will be welcome. Any body interested in shares?

I like the idea of shares, as long as long as the buy in is not the price of a Patrol:-)

Hi Oom Mac!
This is so exciting for me to think that we may just have the beginning of a potential independent ownership in this whole debate, and so far, we now need to find growth in commitment, and to actually emphasise just exactly how the Nissan Patrol can be carried forward, together with a massive opportunity to other Nissan 4x4 products as well - all of which can be marketed and supported?
So please lets keep this debate open for now?
e g for starters, lets send Kagiso II on a marketing trip with report backs on details, to explore exactly how this can work? Middle East, Japan, and probably Ozzieland?
Regards, Chris

WOWWWW ! Thanx dr Chris for the heads up & vote of confidence..
You are right, this should be put on the table with a business plan to match.
I will be speaking to friends & acquaintances in Europe - and if we can source from the contacts I have there, I could even make a living through it [this Govt pension of mine does not keep tread with the rising costs - as is I have to cut down on outreaches .. but that is my problem, let me not burden you with it. (why I keep it here and don't delete it then? Oupa had a saying:"Wat 'k geskryf't hettik geskryf en wattik gesê 't hettik gesê en my vloek bly ook staan" - I have learned over time, NOT to argue with that wisdom. There must be a reason It came to mind and was jotted down - if not now, somewhere in future I will know why

I digress: There are items such as "Portal Axles" that the guys would love to lay there hands on, Diff lockers for our older Patrols, What about the 3,3 Patrol engine as found in Europe Patrols? ... New grille for a GQ Patrol .. I can go on till end of (p)ages.
So - best I start a "survey" thread and we take it from there

Thanx weer 'n keer Dr Chris - jy gee my moed dat hierdie vir ons almal kan uitwerk

Dr Chris & all:

I have been looking at the prospects of starting with importing parts from Europe [for Nissan 4x4's mainly, but to make it viable one has to look at other makes as well]

The established firms in that sector already are too "strong" and I dont think I can compete on their level.

A thought I have been contemplating is to source items on request [at a flat rate .. X- amount if I can source it and a refund if I can't ... or something in that line]
Then we can pool our orders to justify container space and save on shipping costs.

Kindly - your opinions on the above?? (I don't want to make a "poll" of this, just some "sound boarding"
Thanx gents [and the 2 ladies peeking in  ]
