hi Ric-man - Ek gan sommer my antwoord van annerkant op di eNissan forum forum vir jou hier ook deurgee [weet nie of jy dit daai kant gesien het nie?]
Ricster - keep the Duellers - others my match it but just about only Pirelli may beat it
Big secret of sand - the smoother your tread - the better you float
A 235 tyre with 85 profile will give the same or better than a 265/60 because a tyre's footprint gets "longer" with deflation [and logically, the bigger the circumference, the bigger the footprint. The wider the tyre gets, the more roll resistance you get in soft sand [it creates a "wall" in front of it which the torque must then overcome] - Oh, and bear in mind that the footprint NEVER gets wider with deflation because the tread cannot expand sideways.
I have 265's 70 x 16 on my vehicles [but that width is more for the looks than for purpose - Wish I had a set of 235 / 85 / 16 for my "bush trips"
Also to keep in mind - neither of us [the two of us I mean] is related to the Rockefellers, so we buy the best "all rounder"] (It's like buying a rifle and you can have only ONE .. then you buy a 270, because it does everything demmmmm good]
So - again, keep those Duellers - because in sand .. they just kick backside. Fullstop.
OH - and going into dunes & soft sand with M/T's ??? I would NOT [they churn up the sand and thus a diesel suffers because the diesel cannot create the speed and acceleration that a petrol does.
Now - for all of you, this is just about the very last time that I sit and do a grammar perfect posting - next time - you get it it Afrikaans and I'll do it MY WAY
