Wow - what a lovely trip. It made me realize it is not always necessary to go to the furthest parts of Namibia, Botswana or Moz to experience the beauty of Africa as it is actually available right on our door step!
Thanks for sharing the experience -(PS: I will now forgive you for not at least inviting a Patrol with...  )

Yes you dont have to leave the country, I enjoyed every mile of this trip , saw the most spectacular places.
And some people own and live in the most fantastic places.
The people we met were so friendly and helpfull
We live in a fantastically beautiful country with the best people.

Dankie Jules vir die oproep.Die roudiens is die komende naweek.
Een onverskillige persoon op ons paaie kan n hele hegte familie uit mekaar ruk.

Thanks Koos

Indeed a marvelous trip report of a trip through beautiful country. I have not been to all these areas, but have been hunting and camping in the vicinity of Tarkastad a couple of times, and my grandfather (also a forrester) retired to Prince Albert and as kids we visited them a few times. I will never forget how we used to walk down the "leivore" when the water was flowing. I remember once helping my grandfather diverting the water into his dam at about 9'o clock at night. Jou leibeurt is jou leibeurt, en as jy hom mis het jy vir 'n week nie water nie. Wonderfull memories, thanks Koos.
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Thx Peter.
Prince Albert is an amazing village. Truly the most beautiful place. Net baie muskiete nou gehad!!!!!
I played there in quite a historic rugby match in the early eighties. The rugby club were the fist true multiracial club in SA. The 2 clubs in town amalgamated(dorpspan SARB en woonbuurt span SARU) , and Doc Craven was the initiator of this. We the Saasveld team were invited to play in this historic match, it was quite a party afterwards in the town. The following 3 years I played at least twice a year there. it was so nice to see the photo in the local museum about this.Doc was also present. I actually have a pic of myself while still in std 3 at Coetzenburg with Doc and Bliksem die hond in 1975. We were there for the opening of the Taalmonument in Paarl, and our Voortrekker group were giving the oppurtunity to meet old Doc.
Myself and their big Coloured prop( hy was so sterk soos n bees) became good mates, unfortunately I lost contact with him in the late eighties.

Ja Koos the mozzies in PA will carry you out the house while you sleep. They sound like a raid of B17's formating above you. They say it is because of all the pesticides, the mozzies now thrive on it. But you are right, it is a beautiful town.
