Re: Idling changes when clutch is depressed in neutral
As far as I know, the Y60 also has a vacuum servo assisted clutch, like the Y61 has. This means that the engine is loaded slightly when operating the clutch. There might also be a vacuum leak somewhere.

Jules, have you done any water crossings lately? (please check under your vehicle for said diver)

Re: Idling changes when clutch is depressed in neutral
Hello Jules
On a more serious note, my car shows a very slight drop in revs when I depress the clutch, say 20-30rpm? I haven't really noticed roughness though. Where is the noise coming from, and is it only when the clutch is fully depressed or does it start as soon as you start feeling the clutch? Also, if you rev the engine to say 2000 or 3000RPM and then depress the clutch does it still make a noise and roughen up or is all normal then?
I think it may be as Gerrit thinks a leak on the vacuum booster system (not the pipes, otherwise it would do it all the time?) or it could possibly be the clutch release bearing, but they normally scream (although they might "rumble") and if you rev the engine and then depress the clutch the noise should definately change pitch.
By the way, if you are trying to pinpoint a mechanical noise, it is handy to use a long screwdriver (a stethoscope works even better). If you hold the handle against your ear and feel around with the tip it helps isolate the vibration, and sound is caused by vibration.
Good luck
Peter

Jules, nou's ek lekker deurmekaar.
