Right front wheel hub getting hot

Post by Jules »

Morning all

What can be the cause for right front wheel hub getting rather hot, vehicle just been for service , something that did not happen previously. Left side no problem, if I remember correctly the workshop manager said they checked wheel bearings all round and it was fine and they regreased them, my wife is taking my Patrol to Ponta next weekend and I don't want no hickups

Shalom

Wheel bearing to tight or you are sitting with a disc that is binding. Let them re do their job.

You can do it in Monday but do not use the car during the weekend. Bearings are expensive.

Net n bietjie terugvoer.

Het sondag my Patrol vir n draai gevat want my vrou moet so bietjie oefenin kry sy vat my Patrol die naweek Ponta toe ( Ladies trip ), dit was ek( gq ) , Gerrit (4.5 gu ), Donald ( 4.8 gu ) en Gawie ( 2.8 colt), totale trip eenrigtin seker so 40km.

Re: Right front wheel hub getting hot - Update?

Hi Jules

Any outcome from this?

I checked both my front wheel hubs yesterday (never checked them before strangely) after a bit of driving around and couldnt hold my hand for longer than 2 seconds. I have no idea what is normal heat or not, and I have just come back from a 3200km trip and if the bearings were too tight wouldnt they have already ceased?

Thanks

I took off the front wheels (the one right front wheel bolt was stripped properly at tiger wheel and tire yesterday anyway - R60 a bolt and need to undo the whole hub/bearing assembly to replace  ) and seems very tight to turn, can do it with one hand, dont know what's normal either, so will take it into Nissan who repacked my bearings when I replaced the drag-link and see what they say. There also appears to be slight play.

Driving to Zim in December so want it sorted, although I didnt run into any problems on my Moz trip so unsure if anything is actually wrong.
