Patrol weather shields for doors ?

Post by Dustin »

Hi all

Does anyone know where a guy can buy weather shields for a GU Patrol (2000 model) ?

I've tried the usual suspects like Autostyling, etc but no luck.
I don't feel like going through the hassel of bringing them in from Oz.

I contacted Speedworld in Bloemfontein for my 1998 4.5 Gl and for the front windows the Jeep Cherokee fitted nicely and for the rear a Toyota Hi Lux D/C did the trick.

While on this shield subject, these plastic shields that are fitted over the front of the bonnet, do they work? If they work does anybody know where to find and at what cost?

My concern on these shields are that it takes quite a bit of speed to move a drop of water on the bonnet, thus according to Koos.

The intercooler fan, this is a very bad design by the Japanese for the intercooler above the engine sit. No wind coming therein to 90 km / h. So in other words, you need it to air movement caused by scoop. Benefit it, you'll feel immediately theres more torque at low speeds. Mine run continuously. It can not guarantee interfere!
This is Googles translation not mine!!!!!

So the question after all this is will this type of shield not interfere with the airflow into the scoop?

Izak why don't you test it, it is quite easy to get an idea of how much air is flowing. Take a few balls of cotton wool and stick them on where you want to know what the air flow is doing, using prestick, then go for a drive. It is quite easy to get an idea of how the air is flowing.

Or stick short pieces of string / wool with cellutape , then you can see the direction of the flow as well
