Replacement of coils and shocks

Post by Rodney »

I purchased my 2013 Y61 3.0 GL second hand in Pretoria when it had 50,000 km and newly fitted 2" lift. Iron man foam shocks and coils. The suspension impressed me - a far better ride than our existing Y61 3.0 GL at the time. HOWEVER we live at the coast and those coils started rusting big time within months. The paint appeared to have been applied to base metal with no primer and just popped off in long chunks. Its now time to replace the severely rusted coils. The shocks seem to be fine and I will have them tested.

The only post that I can find is dated 2019. I dont believe that Terrain Tamer had at that time yet entered the RSA market. What is the current opinion on the forum as to the best option on coils and specifically what are the opinions as to the Terrain Tamer tapered coils?

Terrain tamer make excellent coils and many load options. I have sold and fitted many in the workshop.

I run the tapered coils on the front of my car. good things.

I'm also very happy with my progressive rate Terrain Tamer coils. They're a big upgrade in comfort compared to the OME set they replaced.

PS: I live in Pretoria and I also think Ant is far away
