Maxtrax - are they worth owning?

For several years now it has been my contention that Maxtrax are not worth their weight, never mind their cost.

I have never seen them accomplish anything that just deflating the tires a little bit more wouldn't have done just as well.

Until I watched this video:

About 27 minutes in.

But also, these guys drive harder than I can afford to.

how many minutes into the video can i see what you are referring to?
(sorry dont feel like watching the whole video now - maybe later)...

maxtrax is defnatley a good piece of kit, but just not economically practical for us here in rsa to buy...
