Finally got around to finishing the Grabouw 4x4 Trail edit:
Such a beautiful place to explore, if you couldn't tell from the video, I absolutely love it!
The Patrol lead the convoy, and dare I say, it may have made the obstacles look easier than they were to some of the other vehicles

Re: Symmetry 4WD 1997 Nissan Patrol Y60 GQ 4.2 SGL TB42S
Hellooo all you Patrollers,
So a little update on the rig...it's been quite a while!
Since my last confession:
- Small sound install with Sony Double Din NON touchscreen radio, 6.5" infinity 2 way speakers in the front doors and rear. Sounds good, may add a small amp and sub down the line.
- Landcruiser 80 series oem wheels 16x8j 0 offset, gunmetal colour, bored to fit the Patrol 110.1mm center bore, temporary 31's/265/70/16's Bridgestone 18's. I wanted a set of 16's with better offset than the 7j 15" steelies my car came with, after fitting the wheels and driving the car for a couple months now saving for tires, I noticed a wobble between 80-100kmph. This is because the 80 series wheels needs flanged nuts, but the Patrol studs are a different thread pitch, so using normal nuts on the wheels, not the flanged nuts creates this wobble. All said and done, I will be going after market Dynamic or Dirty Life 16 or 17's with 35's soon....watch this space!
- I bought a TB42E factory EFI engine to convert my carby TB42S to EFI. The plan was to do the EFI conversion, run the car like that for a while, then turbo down the line...
- Recently I found another coolant leak on the car, all heater hoses, fittings etc had been changed recently, and it wasn't coming from any of the common to check places...
Upon further inspection, I discovered that the Welsh/Core plug/plugs behind the flywheel on the engine block was leaking.
With the engine or at the very least gearbox needing to come out to fix this, and not having time or space to do it myself at the moment, I began to think, and thought maybe it's time to do some major maintenance on the engine while it is out, as well as the EFI conversion...
- This lead my to biting the bullet, scrapping my EFI Turbo TB42 idea, and going TD42+T
I really want to use and enjoy the car as much as possible, it technically is my dailly, and I am very much over the carb, and fuel consumption, and don't really have any interest learning about carbs, so this is where the TD42 comes in.
Let's see where this goes...

There is a flanged nut of the correct pitch.
It was used on the early GU's.
But they are scarce. And I am not sure if the diameters are correctfor the Cruiser wheels.

They were used on the 4.5 GRX mags..
You can get them from Nissan at R150 per wheel nut.
(Last time I checked in 2017)
Or perhaps from partsquip.
Toyota's thread is 1.5mm, NIsssan is 1.25mm. But also not sure if Nissan wheel nuts would work on cruiser rims. (dont know if lengths are the same)
