Kaokoland: October 2022
Hi All
Not a trip report but rather a few pics and a short summary below. I will hopefully add some meat soon, in the meantime, if you have any queries, fire away.
Basic info:
4 vehicles: 2 x Patrols GUY61s, Nissan Navara, Toyota LC80.
Period: 6-21 October 2022
Distance: 5773 km
Fuel consumption: Open road @ 120 km/hr = 5.4 km/l, Open road @ 140 km/hr = 4.3 km/l, River beds 4x4 = 2-3 km/l.
Route: Below
Meat/booze: prebooked all and picked up in Windhoek
Highlights: Deadvlei, Kunene River route, Ondurusu Falls, Epupa, Van Zyl’s, Marienfluss, Puros, Amspoort, great roads - generally, clean country, open spaces, not seeing people for days on end.
Lowlights: badly corrugated roads in some places.
Breakdowns: Patrols = none, Navara (shocks and CV boot), LC (several issues).
Groete
John

Re: Kaokoland: October 2022
Fantastic photos John. A trip to this area is on my bucket list, so I am next-level jealous....
I've got serious Namibia-withdrawal symptoms currently. My next excursion into Namibia is currently in planning phase and scheduled for next year. So thanks for the photographs - it makes the normal nine-to-five slog just a little more bearable...

Hi Steve
yes, the Estwing follows me everywhere and even helped to fix a bust shock or 2 ;-)
If boudinage, ductile folding, thrust faulting, tight cleavage, Riedel shears, décollement etc does it for you, you'll be in heaven!
Quick, long weekend
