Afternoon all, will I have problems fitting 265/70/17" rims and tyres on my GU Y61 4.2TD currently have 265/70/16".
Also I am planning to fit used 4.8 coils back and front with OME shocks front 60013 and back 60015 2", will this work?

No, but if it were me I would rather stay with the 16" wheels and go with 265/75R16's...

16" tyre will give you more rubber to work with which will give you more traction in the sand.
This is why I went for 15" tyres, they are just miles better than the same size 17" if it comes to sand

Morning Michael, thanks for the reply make sense, also the 16 are cheaper. Now to consider where to get best price and what brand and also if MT or AT any suggest ions?

Exactly as Michael said. Higher sidewalls give you a longer footprint when deflated and more rim protection the rest of the time, at the cost of being a little less stable in high-speed corners.

And 16" tires are considerably cheaper than 17"s.

My first tires were muddies, Coopers, but they started to feather and I was told that they often do when a lot of use is on tar. I dont know if this is true or not. My next tires were BF all terrain and I was extremely pleased with them and found them to be better in sand. Often the treads of the muddies were so caked up with hard mud and clay that I could not really see the point of them. But then everyone will have a different experience.

Please do not spark this debate again. There have been many debates on this forum and many others as to which tire is best. The most popular tires on the Patrols seems to be:

• BFG

• Maxxis

• Cooper

None of these tires are particularly cheap, but they all provide excellent performance and last relatively long (having achieved more than 100 000 km on my own previous set of BFG's).

If you are however looking at cheap tires, the general grabbers aren't too bad (except that the sidewalls are relatively soft, so I wouldn't recommend them for rock crawling.)

MT vs AT: The MT's look a lot better on the Patrol, and obviously has some advantage in slippery conditions (such as mud), but they suffer from road noise and have a small impact on fuel consumption. If you use the vehicle as a daily driver and drive 90% tar and 10% off-road (like me) then I would recommend AT's. If you use the vehicle exclusively as a toy and spend more time in the dirt than on the road, then MT's would probably be the way to go.

Buy the power mac 285 75 16 for 1700 rand you do a lot of sand there will work a charm or the 255 85 16 is also a good one ....just don buy at duelers they are really bad but hey buy a tpms with your new tekkies it and you will be sorted
