Lockable spare wheel nuts
I took the plunge and bought the Patrol a full set of new tyres last week. All of a sudden my spare wheel with its brand new tyre looks very vulnerable without a secure locking mechanism as those 3 long shaft nuts on the spare can be removed very easily. I tried Nissan but they seem to be clueless. ...

Re: 2008 3L Patrol
Looks like a more modern version of my 1999 4.2D GL. You find them often in other SADC countries but I don't think they were ever sold by Nissan SA. I stand to be corrected but compared to the SA GL versions they were fitted with: 1) 16X6jj steel rims and 235/85/16 tyres, some even with 7.50's! 2) N...

Re: INJECTORS CHECK - HOW OFTEN?
Thanks Christo, your inputs are appreciated. So, with injectors being relatively inexpensive, where can I have them tested (Southern or Western Cape) without pulling them? I've heard of a gas test where a probe is apparently inserted somewhere in the exhaust line which then just about tells you ever...

INJECTORS CHECK - HOW OFTEN?
I don't know whether this has been discussed before, but is there a rule of thumb or some guidelines as to when or how often one should have the injectors checked? My 1999 4.2D n/a has know clocked 140 000 km and although it has been regularly serviced, I doubt whether the injectors have ever been c...

Re: Found my Trol
Congrats Jan Hope you bought this vehicle for the right reasons. A bit of a dog in city traffic ( you need to have lots of patience!) and not much of a sand dune basher either BUT when it comes to rock climbing and overland traveling through Africa, you could hardly have done any better. Use it for ...

Re: Mags and Tyres needed
Hi Craig I've got a brand new Frontrunner Wind Cheetah (135 X 210 cm) for you if you're interested. I bought this roof rack with the intention to use it on my '83 Datsun Safari SW which i had at that stage but I "upgraded" to a '99 Patrol before I even had a chance to try it out. The '99 P...

Re: Sell the Ranch! Let's All Move To Haiti!
Kevin The Patrol with the TD42 motor is still available in countries like Zim, Zambia, Moz, Malawi, etc as a special import and is still the preferred mode of transport for many NGO's, EU organisations, govt dept's, etc. I was quoted US$ 89 000 for a brand new one at Inhambane Nissan last year in Ju...

Re: TD4.2T ever sold by Nissan SA officially?
Hi Pieter Your info regarding the differences between your TD 4.2 and the one Frans had, is indeed very interesting and anything but useless! I would like to believe that there has to be some minor differences ( bigger/stronger components? ) between the TD 4.2's imported into Aus fitted with turbo's...

Re: TD4.2T ever sold by Nissan SA officially?
Thanks guys, much appreciated. Russ, I share your sentiments on this issue 100%. My information is that Nissan had always been very conservative in their approach to introduce the turbo to the 4.2D here in SA, for reasons related to reliability due to our topography and climate. Unlike Australia, we...
